Hi!
I’m Allegra Kaough

In 17 years of experience working with dogs of all ages and breeds who struggled with a variety of behavioral issues, my proven methods have helped countless clients achieve a level of calm and freedom with their dogs that they never thought was possible.

With me on your team, you'll be amazed at how quickly your dog will transform! Say goodbye to conflicting advice and the frustration of falling off track. It’s my mission to share what I learned about dogs with as many dog owners as I can.

My journey with dogs began in Arizona in 2008 when I lived with a dog trainer and her six dogs. I had never been around dogs and devoted myself to their care while learning everything I could about dog training.

Shortly after I got my own dog, a Dachshund named Harley, I moved back to New York City and took apprenticeships with trainers there and in Austin, Texas.

In 2013, I launched my own business, ‘The Naked Dog’.
For eight years, I took packs of 7 to 20 dogs on off-leash hikes every day, boarded dogs in my home almost constantly, and conducted training sessions for hundreds of clients in Austin.

In my 17 y ears of experience I've discovered the key to a happy life with your dog: it’s all about understanding how they communicate with one another so we can better communicate with them!

As a long-time practitioner Natural Horsemanship, an approach to horse training commonly referred to as “horse whispering,” I aimed to connect with dogs in a similar way, one that goes beyond tools, treats, gimmicks and anthropomorphizing.

My approach focuses on understanding dogs' innate psychology to foster a calm and willing mindset—creating the ideal life partner who is responsive, patient, and adaptable, allowing us to enjoy the great outdoors together.

I’m so excited to share this knowledge and help transform the bond between dogs and their owners. There is no greater joy than to watch a dog who is getting their primary needs met blossom.

What makes The Naked Dog’s training more effective than other approaches?

What sets ‘The Naked Dog’ apart is our relationship-based approach to training in real-world scenarios.

Our goal is to achieve seamless communication, where dogs respond to subtle cues even in distracting environments.

We maintain high standards for behavior by reinforcing positive actions and establishing clear rules and boundaries. This builds trust and safety in our relationships with the dogs.

Understanding a dog's perspective is key to addressing behavioral issues.

We teach you to read your dog’s behavior and assess their mental state, emphasizing that obedience is about energy quality, not just commands. By tuning into your dog and providing timely cues, you can effectively manage or prevent many issues.

Teaching our dog to be a good citizen isn’t a luxury and it isn’t just to make our lives easier (even though it does). When we consistently implement this training perspective, we have a dog that is less stressed and feels safer in the world.
